American Press Center
American Cultural Center
Inaugurated on October 11, 2002, the Press Center promotes the free flow of information and democracy. All journalists working in Madagascar as well as communication officers of Malagasy ministries and NGOs can become members.
It is a multi-media center, which provides journalists with varied sources of information through Internet, international TV channels (namely CNN, BBC, Discover, VOA TV and National Geographic), national and international newspapers and magazines . Publications, audio and videotapes (all for loan) give journalists information on such topics as media, communication, democracy, the fight against corruption, good governance and health, education issues. New members participate in an Internet training to help them improve their search for information.
In addition to being a multi-media center and a meeting place for journalists, the Press Center also serves as a clearing house for information about institutions and foundations which provide professional training and/or fellowships to help journalists. Also with the objective of supporting the professionalism of Malagasy journalists, the Press Center also hosts special English courses for selected journalists.
