The United States has strong partnerships with Malagasy military, gendarmes, and police. Together we promote peace and security in Madagascar through training and educational exchanges, capacity building and technical assistance.
Investing in People: $43,505,991
The United States invests in improved livelihoods of Malagasy people in many sectors: malaria, HIV/AIDS, maternal/child health, family planning, water and sanitation, education, protection of vulnerable people, combating trafficking in persons and child labor.
Economic Growth: $54,237,731
The Millennium Challenge Corporation will disburse $35 million in 2008 for projects in Land Tenure Reform; Financial Sector Reform; and Agricultural and Business Investment.
USAID manages several economic growth and develop projects, including: Transport Services; Agriculture Sector Capacity; Environment: Natural Resources and Biodiversity; Environment: Administration and Oversight
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a Food for Progress agreement with Madagascar for bilateral agricultural cooperation in capacity-building, exchanges, food security, and agricultural improvement.
