Applicants MUST complete the form online, print out all three pages, and bring all three pages with them to the visa interview. The form is available in both English and French. There is no charge for this or any other U.S. non-immigrant visa application form. On the same web site, applicants will also schedule their visa appointment.
Visa appointments can now be made 24 hours/day online. Go here to make an appointment. Applicants with an emergency need to travel who cannot obtain a timely appointment on-line, and students and businessmen with an urgent need to travel who can not obtain a timely appointment on-line, should call the visa section at 22-212-57. Different procedures apply for diplomats and official government travelers.
Males between the ages of 16 and 45 must also prepare and bring form DS-157 to their interview. The form is available here. There is no charge for this form. You must have Adobe Reader installed to open this form. If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download it here.
Processing times: Processing times: It currently takes one day to process most non-immigrant visas. Visas are not ready the same day as the interview. In a few cases, additional administrative processing is required, which takes on average 30 days, but can take longer. To avoid problems, applicants are urged to apply early, but not more than 90 days prior to their travel. For the latest processing time information, see Visa Wait Times.
