Possible Protest

February 18, 2011 :

Press reports have indicated that ex-President Marc Ravalomanana may return to Madagascar during the weekend of February 19th – 20th.  Due to the potential for wide-scale protests related to his return, U.S. citizens are advised to avoid crowds, protests, the international airport, and the area surrounding the airport.  You should stay current with media coverage of local events and be aware of your surroundings at all times.

You should be vigilant traveling in Madagascar as demonstrations can occur with little or no warning.  Be alert and aware at all times, vary routes and schedules, and always carry your mobile phone.
