Report of Explosion Downtown Antananarivo

This Warden Message is to alert Americans that the Embassy received a confirmed report of an explosion in downtown Antananarivo, near Independence Avenue.  The Embassy has restricted its personnel from traveling to downtown Antananarivo based on the current fluid political and security situation, and recommends that American citizens avoid downtown Antananarivo, and any locations where demonstrations and other violent events occurred or are occurring, and to closely monitor news and other information sources until the cause of this event is clarified.
